Ascend or Descend

"Gathering the Light" from the Taois...

Over the years I have meditated quite often, that is going into a quiet state and letting thoughts flow by without reacting to them.  After a time the mind gets into a state of openness and is able to receive extraneous informative thoughts, as many of you already know.  This certainly is not a new idea, and it has been known for millennia.  The only problem that arises is the loss of control of what approaches the mind, and  can have undesirable effects.  Now, I take a little time to contemplate for a while on an idea, sort of an incubation period, and then move into a meditative state which usually results in a desirable end.  This acts as a safety device, and allows one to increase spirituality and oneness with the “Source of Creation.”  Our desire is to ascend not descend.  Just some morning thoughts to consider.  Love one another with kindness and tolerance.

Flowers for Joy

A statement made C.G.Jung was posted by my friend Maxwell Purrington reminding me of my thoughts on the subject:  “The conscious mind allows itself to be trained like a parrot, but the unconscious does not.”  There is current talk about subliminal stimulation, and how it’s effect persuades us to act in ways that ordinarily we might not succumb to.  This would first enter the conscious mind through our physical senses, and then possibly pass into our subconscious.  That is the reason for excessive advertizing and other means that we are not fully aware of, so the statement of being trained like a parrot applies; Conscious first, then possibly subconscious.

The unconscious is more complex, and there are an immensity of components, of which we are not in total control of, but wouldn’t be affected by the external means stated above.  This part could get lengthy, but the point is that the unconscious, if it could be affected,  would be greatly selective.  This is just an opinion based on study.  Love one another with kindness and tolerance.

Primary Vibration!

We use the term “resonate” often, which means to re-sound or vibrate with another tone of equal pitch.  One must remember that the first sound starts the vibration or resonance.  In Our spiritual searching we look for things that resonate with us, as if we emit the primary tone, which is not the case.  Remember, that deep within our soul there is this “Eternal Spark of the Divine” that emits a vibration continually, and we need to seek to resonate with it.  This is the process that C.G.Jung called “Individuation.”  It it a process that requires much effort, but is a worthwhile journey.  It involves uniting the ego with the true “Self” and becoming whole.  This is a spiritual gain of empowerment for activism, and only out of an overflow can others be helped.  If one is half full, then seek to be filled to overflowing.  Just a thought.  Love one another with kindness and tolerance.

The expansion or opening of the personal belief system would be a great advancement for many.  Most of us are told what to believe because of traditional ideas, which are sometimes true, but may be shaded by prejudice or personal bias.  I have always preferred to think my own thoughts, right or wrong, until experience dictates otherwise.  C.G.Jung was once asked if he believed in God, and his reply was:  No,  I have experienced God ( paraphrased).  Belief was not necessary because the experience settled it.  Don’t get stuck in a tradition that dictates how one should think or not think, which is prevalent in fundamentalist structures.  Allow the intuitive mind to give one understanding along with ones own research and the “light” will come on.  Just morning thoughts.—-Love one another with kindness and tolerance.

Softening the Hardened

Morning thoughts once again lead me to the fact, or that which I believe as fact, that in order to make a change for the benefit of the world, there needs to be a return of a more feminine energy.  The need to soften, or to apply emotion to the hardened exploding violent situations occurring are the only possibility left.

Men have a desire to fight fire with fire because society conditions them to be ” a man.”, tough and without emotion.  Much of this comes from a patriarchal idea that God is a masculine, judgmental Deity, however,  no person can really describe the Divine without trying to make one in our image.  God would contain masculine and feminine qualities as well as everything else everywhere.  the “All” of the all.

So, we are back at the start, and a more feminine energy is needed to equalize and soften the hardened power monger ideology that is plaguing the world.  Love one another with kindness and tolerance.

Awakening of the Heart

Once the heart is awakened we are never the same again.  We become aware of a reality that is so BRIGHT that everything else dims in comparison.  Not that we walk away from life and go hide in a cave, but from then on there will always be a background radiation of the Divine Presence   Many spiritual persons carry some kind of reminder, such as an amulet or beads, or even a special stone in one’s pocket or purse.  This is a little reminder to stop and reflect upon the great privilege that has been bestowed upon you, and then listen for the sill small voice within.  Don’t avoid the one thing that we should do for the trivial things that are not as necessary, but usually take care of themselves.  Our world is like a giant supermarket full of distractions.  Don’t  be swayed!  Love one another with kindness and tolerance.

Our Amazing Soul

As I have mentioned in a previous post, and expanded by Maxwell Purrington, the soul has three parts: a passive, or everyday collection of good and bad insertions, an unfolding part, and the Eternal Part ( the Spark of the Divine ).  The ” unfolding part ” is being unfolded by two sides:  One side by us through study, prayer, contemplation, and striving for truth, and the other side by our “SOURCE”, at exactly the right time–not too early, and not too late.  This is something that needs to be experienced, and not just believed because someone said it.  Experience is always the best teacher.  Love one another by kindness and tolerance.

A very popular teaching is going around these days called ” The Law of Attraction.”  I’m not saying that this is false, but is certainly has all the arrows pointing to you, and some kind of material gain is the desired result.  In the spiritual world a better statement would be ” seek and you shall find.”  It is true that you will attract spiritual understanding by the seeking process, however, the result will be that one will start seeing others in a different light: as connected and all part of the same “Oneness.”  Change the idea to a ” law of extraction” and start giving to others and your spirit will soar.  Love one another with kindness and tolerance.

The Three Part Soul

This idea is from a Thomas Moore book:  The soul is made up of three parts.  One part arrives at birth and never changes, the eternal self. This is the spark of the Divine.  The second level is defined by events and the environment, and changes all of the time, trying to survive and thrive  in the everyday world, called the practical self.  The third level is the caterpillar-and-butterfly part, the unfolding self.  This part is always becoming,  always evolving, unless it is blocked, and goes through deep transformation.  It is the go-between that links the eternal with the everyday.  Ancient societies focused their attention on the unfolding self, while we favor the practical self.

At every moment, we are a star, an agent, and an emerging butterfly.  To keep the unfolding self alive, you have to keep yourself open to change, every step of the way.  Love one another with kindness and tolerance.

Morning Thoughts

I marvel at the state of spirituality that is in place at this time in our history.  I know there are many spiritual groups and many individuals involved in some kind of religious endeavor, but overall, there is a great falling away from the major religions traditions.

The young people say: they will look into all of these religious matters latter in life after they eat, drink, be merry, and etc.  Many older folks say that they have their religious ideas set in concrete, and will follow along the same as their ancestors, or as if some kind of certificate or membership sufficed.

Materialism has completely taken over the world, especially technology.  Families get together and everyone gets out their latest electronic gadget to compare, and then start going their own direction, with little or no fellowship.  Family traditions or sharing spiritual values are on the decline; talking religion or spirituality is a hushed topic.  As I said at the beginning ” I marvel” at the lack of interest in spiritual matters.  The soul of many of us is completely covered over with trivial striving after the next new thing.  I hope it works out for you one way or another.  If you are not moving forward spiritually, then you are allowing inertia to have it’s way.  This is just my opinion.

Love one another with kindness and tolerance.
